Construction Industry Retailer

The Client:
Louisville Tile understands the implications of recent demographic trends: by 2010, Hispanics will comprise 47% of the construction workforce. As a retailer of construction products, the customer service representatives are already interacting with Hispanic clients on a daily basis.

The Challenge:

  • The sales team lacked the ability to provide quality customer service to Spanish speakers
  • Inability to attract and retain Hispanic customers caused lost profits

The Solution:
The customer service and sales representatives need to be able to perform their routine jobs and tasks, in Spanish as well as English. We designed a course that integrates the language skills they need with the vocabulary they use everyday. The course is interactive and gives the team practice opportunities that model real life. As language skills take time and effort to build, the team at Louisville Tile continues to improve their customer service with periodic refresher courses. Customized resource cards, or cheat sheets, were developed for day-to-day reference for all participants.

The Results:
The sales team at Louisville Tile is equipped to acquire and retain Hispanic clients.
